I am just 7 year old..!

The discussion was about whether the Ethics can be taught or not? Many people said that ethics can not be taught in classroom. Someone said, Ethics ….to management students …it’s a crap…..!Someone told that ethics can not be taught at this age (average age of discussion group was 25-26 yrs)….!

To my mind, Nothing can be taught except the mathematics! Every subject we study or every subject which is being taught at a management school will only give a new dimension to our thinking process and it will compel us to think in all possible different ways. So it is better to say that professors at management school facilitate the subject understanding and not teach the subject. There can be more than one interpretation to one thought in management subjects, but in case of mathematics, we don’t have any choice. For an example, we can not deny 2+2=4but we can deny the CSR concept by Kotler..!
Now, coming to the comment that Ethics …..at this age….no ways..!
Many people believe that ethics can only be taught by our parents that too in our childhood. But I want to question those people that do we really know the importance of ethics at the age of 5-10 yrs? Till the age of 5 yrs, we follow our parent’s ethical and moral advice only because- fear of punishment. From 6-18 years we follow our parent’s advice because we don’t want to hurt them by disobeying the things. Also we start questioning our self about the practicality of such advice but we don’t have the ability to think independently. And after 18, we really start thinking and taking our decisions independently. I personally feel that, this the age when our independent thinking process gets its birth. First few years of such process are very crucial, we need very clear and correct guidance so that we can be confident enough about our own decisions. So it is the correct time to re-learn/re-study/re-read the basic ethical concept. Only knowing the ethical concept will not serve the purpose, we need to implement such concepts. Very common example, everybody knows that one should come to class on correct time but how many people actually follow that..! Knowing all the Gyan, one can become a Well Informed person but not the Knowledgeable person.
The birth of my independent thinking took place at 18 when I left the home for my engineering studies. Now I am 25 yrs old. So I am just 7 yr old in terms of my independent thinking process. One should not waste any opportunity which will guide him/her in enriching ethical behavior. To my mind, learning is a never ending process….!
